Year 1 -6 Curriculum
Our curriculum at Blidworth Oaks is a cohesive and progressive offer that celebrates the strength and principles of individual subjects through discrete lessons, in order to deliver the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum but, more importantly, to equip our children with knowledge and skills in a way that is meaningful to them and their community experiences. Units of work within each subject are planned to focus on required themes, then the delivery and content are influenced by children’s interests, learning styles and current developmental needs.
At Blidworth Oaks reading is seen as the imperative skill that permeates all subject areas, and so is considered essential to our children’s future success and life opportunities. Throughout their time with us, we ensure that our children are exposed to an extensive, carefully chosen range of quality texts that represent a range of genres, along with a careful program of skills progression that allows them to truly immerse themselves in the literary and factual content they experience.
Our overall curriculum is enhanced further through comprehensive RSHE content that is woven and embedded across a range of subjects, as well as a vast range of eclectic wider opportunities known as ’50 Things to Do At Blidworth Oaks’. The true essence of our curriculum however, revolves around the development of our seven School Values (Aspiration, Inspiration, Integrity, Inclusion, Respect, Responsibility, Resilience) and how they influence every facet of the children’s education: academically, socially and morally.
